Safeguarding our Parish

The Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney Safeguarding Office provides support and training for parish communities to ensure that our communities offer a safe and caring environment. Safeguarding Children Procedures at All Hallows Parish, in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, the Archdiocese of Sydney has developed procedures and protocols to safeguard our children.

These procedures and protocols include the following:

  1. Every ‘volunteer’ must obtain a Working With Children Check (‘WWCC’). By logging on to https:// www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-working-children-check. A ‘volunteer’ includes people assisting with Night Patrol, Eucharistic Ministry, Catechists, Music Ministry, Transport, Counters, Mass Readings, St Vincent De Paul, Altar Society, Church Cleaning, Piety Stall & Children’s’ Liturgy.
  2. Once you receive this number you will need to give your WWCC number to the parish office to be verified.
  3. All volunteers will then be asked to attend an induction session face to face or online.
  4. Finally the volunteer will be asked to sign an Code of Conduct for Working with Children.

While we understand that some may find the process demanding, we are all committed to providing a safe environment for our children.

Child sexual abuse is a crime. The appropriate people to deal with crimes are the police. If you, or anyone you know, have been abused, please contact the police. Alternatively, you can contact the Safeguarding Office at 02 9390 5810 or [email protected]. The Archdiocese has a legal obligation to report crimes to the police.
