We celebrated Holy Mass this morning at 8am for the intentions of all our parishioners. Last night we also prayed the Seven Penitential Psalms. An ancient practice asking the Lord God to hear the prayers of His people and to forgive them of their sins. The Psalms are an insight into the Heart of God. In a real way, they are the Sacred Heart of the Old Testament- a blueprint for how God revels Himself in and through the hearts of his children. That is why they are so powerful- when we pray the Psalms, we pray with the words of God Himself. This is why the Psalms form the basis of the Divine Office- the prayer of the Church.
